Health y Sol: Bringing Joy Back to Everyday Essentials

by Michele Molina July 01, 2026

In a world where ingredient lists seem to grow longer and products become increasingly complicated, Health y Sol is taking a refreshingly different approach. Founded in 2022 by husband-and-wife team Haley and Matthew Tam, the Florida-based company is building a growing line of personal care and household products rooted in simple ingredients, traditional methods, and a commitment to healthier living.

What started in a small Los Angeles apartment kitchen has since evolved into a thriving business with a team of nearly 15 employees, a flagship retail store in downtown Winter Park, Florida, and products available in retailers across the country.

But at its heart, Health y Sol remains focused on the same mission that inspired its first batch of soap: creating products that are both effective and uncomplicated.

From Apartment Kitchen to Growing Brand

Health y Sol's story began with a personal journey.

After experiencing health challenges individually, Haley and Matthew found themselves increasingly drawn toward holistic living through diet, lifestyle changes, and cleaner personal care products. Along the way, they discovered the benefits of grass-fed beef tallow as a skincare ingredient.

While tallow-based balms existed, they noticed there were very few tallow soaps available on the market.

Curious, they decided to create their own.

The response was immediate.

Each batch sold out almost as quickly as they could make it, providing clear evidence that customers were looking for alternatives to conventional skincare products. Encouraged by that momentum, the couple continued refining formulations, expanding their offerings, and growing the business together.

Today, Health y Sol remains deeply hands-on. The company develops its own formulations, manufactures products in-house, designs its own packaging, and fulfills orders from its Florida facility.

That level of involvement allows the team to maintain a close connection to every product while preserving the family-oriented culture that has been part of the company since day one.

Built on Traditional Ingredients

While many brands focus on the newest trends, Health y Sol often looks to the past for inspiration.

Their products are crafted using ingredients such as grass-fed beef tallow, organic olive oil, and organic coconut oil—simple materials that have been used for generations before synthetic alternatives became commonplace.

For Haley, one of the industry's biggest challenges is helping consumers reconsider products they've used for years.

Many customers are unfamiliar with tallow-based skincare or may initially hesitate at the idea of soap made from animal fats. Yet once they experience the products firsthand, many discover the benefits that traditional ingredients can provide.

Rather than following industry trends, Health y Sol focuses on creating products that align with their belief that simple, time-tested ingredients can often be the most effective.

Packaging Inspired by the Good Old Days

That appreciation for tradition extends beyond the formulas and into the packaging itself.

For their natural powder laundry detergent, Haley drew inspiration from vintage laundry soap packaging from the 1950s and 1960s. The result is a design that feels nostalgic without feeling outdated—bright, playful, and full of personality.

While many natural brands embrace muted colors and minimalist aesthetics, Health y Sol intentionally chose a different path.

The vibrant graphics and retro-inspired design celebrate an era when products felt cheerful, memorable, and made with purpose. At the same time, the packaging reflects the modern values behind the product itself: cleaner ingredients, reduced plastic use, and a more thoughtful approach to everyday essentials.

According to Haley, the goal was to create something authentic and enjoyable—something that might even make laundry feel a little less like a chore.

Choosing Packaging with Purpose

Sustainability has always been an important part of Health y Sol's packaging philosophy.

Across their product line, the company actively works to reduce plastic use through paper soap boxes, glass containers, paper lip balm tubes, and recyclable packaging solutions whenever possible.

When developing packaging for their laundry detergent, the team initially considered traditional resealable pouches. While practical, the format didn't align with the experience they wanted to create.

Paper tube packaging offered something different.

Not only did it provide a more premium presentation, but it also created opportunities for stronger visual storytelling and a more memorable customer experience. The durable paper construction, vivid print quality, and tactile feel helped bring the vintage-inspired design to life in a way that a pouch simply couldn't.

The result is packaging that feels substantial, looks beautiful on display, and aligns with the company's commitment to reducing plastic waste.

Looking Ahead

As Health y Sol continues to grow, Haley and Matthew remain committed to keeping the business family-owned and family-operated.

Their vision includes expanding into additional retailers, growing their product offerings, and eventually passing the company down to future generations.

At the center of those plans are the same core values that have guided the company from the beginning: keep it simple, be neighborly, and spread joy.

Those principles influence everything from product development and customer interactions to charitable giving and company culture.

For Health y Sol, success isn't just measured by growth—it's measured by the positive impact they can have on the people and communities they serve.

A True Partnership

Creating thoughtful packaging requires the right collaborators.

For Health y Sol, working with The Paper Tube Co. has been a natural fit from the start. The team provided guidance, communication, and support throughout the process, helping transform a creative vision into a finished product.

The result is packaging that captures everything Health y Sol stands for: simplicity, sustainability, quality, and a little bit of joy.

Because when everyday products are made with care—from the ingredients inside to the packaging around them—they become something more than just another item on the shelf.
